Project Brief and requirements detail

β€˜You have been commissioned by Manchester based design studio, Creative Spark, to produce marketing materials for one of their clients. These clients are all part of the festival industry. You must produce materials for one of the UK based summer festivals they work with.

You will be expected to design an A3 poster and three social media posts, one of which must be animated, for one of the UK-based festivals. It is important that there is a clear and cohesive style to the designs. If there is considerable changes to the original logo and general branding then this must be consistent throughout. The poster and leaflet must include the dates of the festivals and provide information on the headliners.

You are encouraged to consider how the new look of the festival can be delivered over a range of formats and platforms. It is optional to design additional assets, such as a leaflet, banner, pin badges, tickets, lanyard or any other merchandise materials you can think of.

You can use any methods you wish to create the design as long as the designs are finalised in a digital format. You are encouraged to use both traditional and non traditional methods to experiment with ideas. Any traditional methods explored must be scanned in at 300 dpi to ensure high quality imagery.’

I ORIGINALLY DREW OUT THE DESIGN FOR THE POSTER ON PROCREATE, BEFORE FINALISING AND EDITING IT ALL OVER ON ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR.

During the creating of this Poster, I was able to push my creative ability further through the use of handmade textures and a new design style.

DESIGN CONCEPT

This project was assigned to me as a part of my college course - In which I was given the creative liberty to choose my own UK based festival to design marketing material for. I chose to base my designs on Neighbourhood Weekender, a local summer festival within Warrington, due to it’s bright and colourful atmosphere.

For this Project, I wanted to refer to the festival’s existing brand colour palette and Illustrative design style as inspiration. This involved a vibrant mix of green, blue, purple, orange and brown. I wanted the designs to be inviting and radiate a sense of warmth, which I feel I successfully conveyed with the Setting sun and saturated greenery included in my final submission.

Important Notice: This project was unpaid and not legally affiliated with Creative Spark or Neighbourhood Weekender in any way.

after effects animation

The brief specified that one of our Instagram post designs must include some form of an animation. I chose to keep mine more on the simple side, so as not to distract from the key information.
